Student Placement Opportunities at CCAS

At the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto (CCAS), we are committed to providing students with meaningful, hands-on learning experiences to develop their skills in the social services field. Many of our past placement students have successfully secured roles in child welfare, with some continuing their careers at CCAS.

Student Placement Program at CCAS

Our student placement program integrates practical experience with academic learning, helping students build a strong professional foundation for their careers. Led by our Learning and Development team, the program offers:

  • Opportunities to work alongside experienced social services professionals.
  • Mentorship from field instructors who provide guidance, feedback, and evaluation.
  • A dynamic learning environment that benefits both students and staff.

Placement Opportunities

We offer student placements in the following fields:

  • Social Work (BSW/MSW)
  • Child & Youth Care (CYC)
  • Nursing (BScN)

These placements allow students to gain valuable, real-world experience while contributing to the important work of CCAS.

Application Process

CCAS accepts student placement applications twice a year, with placements beginning in September and January.

How to Apply:

  1. Contact your college or university’s Practicum Coordinator.
  2. The Practicum Coordinator will submit selected candidates to CCAS for consideration.
  3. If selected, students will be contacted for an interview.

Vulnerable Sector Police Check (Level 3)

To ensure the safety and well-being of the children and families we serve, all students must provide a current, original Vulnerable Sector Police Check (issued within the last year) before starting their placement.
