CCAS Joins Historic Campaign to Address Foster Care Needs in the GTA

On January 28, 2025, the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto joined a groundbreaking initiative to address the urgent need for foster caregivers across the Greater Toronto Area. This unprecedented collaboration, led by a coalition of Children’s Aid Societies and Indigenous Well-Being Agencies in the GTA, marks the first collective appeal by these organizations to recruit more foster families to support children and youth from diverse backgrounds.

The campaign, There to Care, aims to inspire individuals and families to open their hearts and homes to children and youth in need. The focus is on finding caregivers who can support sibling groups, older youth, children with complex needs, and those requiring cultural and community connections. The initiative also seeks to challenge outdated perceptions of foster caregiving, emphasizing that caregivers can come from all walks of life, including single individuals, married or common-law couples, and families with or without children.

To amplify the campaign’s message, CCAS will be participating in several media interviews. Sandra Davis, one of our dedicated foster caregivers, and Lisa Bishop, Director of Resource Services, shared their insights with the Catholic Register— Catholic Children’s Aid appeals for foster caregivers | The Catholic Register. On the campaign’s launch day, Sandra appeared on CTV’s Your Morning at 7:30 AM alongside Children’s Aid Society of Toronto’s COO, Nancy Ansong-Danquah, to discuss the critical role foster caregivers play and the need for greater community involvement. Watch the interview here =>

This unified effort is a powerful step toward creating stronger, more supportive environments for children and youth in care. For more information on the There to Care campaign visit the website – There to care – GTA Campaign
